[StarIO.Online] Regarding the Possible Display of a Suspicious Authentication Screen

Star Micronics has confirmed that a suspicious authentication dialog prompting for a username and password was displayed on some pages of the StarIO.Online service provided for the European and Japan region.

The StarIO.Online service provided for the Americas uses a different implementation and is not affected by this issue.

Following further investigation, we have since ascertained that this was a supply chain attack caused by a malicious script delivered from an external CDN service, polyfill.io. The script was used to enable certain functionality on older web browsers. As a result, when viewing the affected pages, a suspicious dialog prompting for a username and password may have been displayed.

All references to the externally referenced script were promptly removed from StarIO.Online after we discovered the issue on 1st July 2026. At this time, we have not confirmed any unauthorized external access to, or intrusion into, our servers. Payment processing on StarIO.Online is handled by an external payment service, and payment information is not processed or stored on StarIO.Online.

As communicated by email to StarIO.Online service users on 1st July 2026, any customers who entered information into the dialog should change their password immediately to ensure security. If you use the same password for any other services, please also change the password for those services.
